Dr. Glauser is Associate Director of the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, co-Director of the Mind Brain Behavior Collaborative, Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and co-Director of the Genetic Pharmacology Service at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is also the Associate Chair for Clinical Research in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College Of Medicine.
Dr. Glauser received his medical degree, cum laude, from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, a fellowship in child neurology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and a fellowship in epilepsy and electroencephalography at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, Missouri
Dr. Glauser has focused his research efforts on improving the care of children with epilepsy by identifying the genetic and nonheritable factors that underlie the inter-individual variation in response to antiepileptic medications. He directed the NIH-funded Childhood Absence Epilepsy trial, a 32 center 446 participant comparative trial of 3 commonly used antiepileptic medications. He has also been the site PI for over 30 industry-sponsored clinical trials and disease and pharmacogenetics studies in children with epilepsy. Dr. Glauser has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles and book chapters mainly focused on epilepsy and the clinical pharmacology of antiepileptic medications. In 2010, Dr. Glauser was awarded the Epilepsy Research Recognition Award for Clinical Science by the American Epilepsy Society. He has given over 150 invited lectures throughout the world and been a past chair of NINDS’s NSDK clinical trials study section. His fields of expertise are pediatric epilepsy, clinical trials, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacogenetics.
