I am an Associate Professor of Neurology and the Division Chief of Movement Disorders at the University of Utah and a staff neurologist at the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, where I am responsible for the movement disorders and cognitive disorders clinics. I have training in neurology, movement disorders and medical genetics. Prior to my move to Utah, I was at Baylor College of Medicine and the Houston VA, where I was a member of the clinical staff at the Parkinson’s Disease Research Education and Clinical Center (PADRECC). For the past four years, I have also been the Neurogenetics Team Lead and the Director of the Adult Neurology Consultant Team for the Baylor College of Medicine Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) Clinical Site. With respect to this grant application for a phase II, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial titled “A Dose Selection Trial of Light Therapy for Impaired Sleep in Parkinson’s Disease”, I will assist in the identification and recruitment of research subjects from the University of Utah Movement Disorders Division. My division includes three neurologists and one physician assistant. We have nationally recognized centers of excellence in Huntington’s Disease and Tourette Syndrome, an active deep brain stimulation (DBS) program in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery, and a research program, with basic science and clinical research studies. My division has a history of productive clinical collaborations and I believe our expertise in neurology and movement disorders makes us well suited to participate in this study.
