Gewalin Aungaroon, MD

Dr. Aungaroon is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College Of Medicine.

Dr. Aungaroon received her medical degree with first-class honors from Mahidol University, Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Mahidol University, Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, a residency in pediatric neurology, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio and fellowship in pediatric epilepsy at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Aungaroon has a strong interest in conducting clinical research in pediatric epilepsy. Her research includes both medical and surgical perspectives on epilepsy treatment. As the principal investigator, she has led multiple clinical trials of various phases of investigational anti-seizure medications. Furthermore, Dr. Aungaroon is conducting clinical research investigating seizure onset zones and functional brain mapping using electroclinical stimulation in children undergoing epilepsy surgery. As a result of her previous experiences, she understands the importance of well-planned research and strong collaboration amongst team members and outside resources. Dr. Aungaroon aims to develop better diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with epilepsy, which will help improve their quality of life.
